A sumptuous sequence of prose poems about the eccentric activities of parents and step-parents, as seen from a child’s perspective. Jacqueline Saphra’s poems are eerie, dry and sensuous, describing a world where hobbies are pursued to dangerous lengths and stepmothers come and go with disturbing ease. The poems are illustrated by artist-printmaker Mark Andrew Webber, whose linocut studies in the nude human form celebrate real bodies and complement the vivid atmosphere.
